If you live in an area that has bad winters you will have to deal with chicken frost bite.  You will either deal with it as a preventative measure or taking care of wounded birds.  I’ll be honest I thought my first winter I did a good job of insulating and keeping the birds fairly warm.  However; the moisture is where the problems came in.  Insulating too much cant be a bad thing.  The worst thing for birds in the winter is moisture.  So two things I have changed is not insulating and heating my coop as much, also rubbing Bag Balm on the combs and wattles.  So I hope this helps you with your birds this winter.
